Report of the 2nd research in Think Tank Unit

The second research in Think Tank Unit was held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Ohashi Campus (also online).

In solving problems, the Think Tank Unit adds knowledge from the field of design to the diverse fields of natural science and humanities and social sciences, designs the ideal future society, and proposes solutions to various social issues and process designs. We aim to do this.

At this second research, we invited Professor Kazuhiko Hachiya of the Department of Intermedia Art, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, to introduce the OpenSky Project he is working on, as well as a wide range of topics related to “designing future society.” He gave a lecture about in various cases, he talked about how he has carried out activities based on a forecasting mindset of accumulating technology and achievements, and also told students and young researchers, “Without having others force you to do it, you can do what you like. Let’s create the future through research and development.”

In an interview-style discussion led by Think Tank Unit leader Akira Omoto (professor at the Faculty of Design), the participants exchanged opinions on topics such as the difference between forecasting and backcasting.

Thank you to everyone who participated.
